"Failure#2860 (Milk Powder)" is a sculpture crafted from a unique mixture of bathroom silicone, olive oil, and potato starch a recipe I devised. This piece embodies the concept of synthetic milk powder, a substance both familiar and alien.
Through this sculpture, I explore the intersection of nature and artifice, presenting a material that mimics the texture and appearance of milk powder yet is entirely synthetic. It represents the poignant moment when the veil is lifted from the mother, depriving the newborn of its first connection through breastfeeding.
The combination of everyday ingredients transforms into a poignant commentary on the artificiality prevalent in modern life, highlighting our increasing inability to distinguish the real from the unreal, the natural from the artificial.
